Face Off Theatre Company is seeking dynamic, versatile performers located within 2 hours of Kalamazoo for our upcoming production Smart People by Lydia Diamond
AUDITIONS: In-person @ The Epic Center Classroom on the 1st Floor 359 S. Kalamazoo Mall August 18th 12 PM to 4 PM Callbacks will be held immediately after at 5 PM
What To Prepare: You will be reading from the sides provided at the audition. No need to prepare monologues in advance.
All rehearsals and performances will take place at The Epic Center. All performers will be paid a $350.00 stipend, mailed at the close of production. Video audition submission requests can be sent to [email protected]. Audition sides will be provided once the request is received.

Smart People by Lydia Diamond
SYNOPSIS: A seriously sexy modern-day comedy of manners.
It is the eve of Obama's first election. Four of Harvard University's brightest; a surgeon, an actress, a psychologist, and a neuro-psychiatrist, are all interested in different aspects of the brain, particularly how it responds to race.
But like all smart people, they are also searching for love, success, and identity in their own lives. Lydia Diamond brings these characters together in this sharp, witty playabout social and sexual politics.
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN: JACKSON MOORE - 28-year-old Black man, surgeon VALERIE JOHNSTON - 24-year-old Black woman, actress GINNY YANG - 34-year-old Asian-American woman, psychologist BRIAN WHITE - 36-year-old White man, neuro-psychiatrist
PRODUCTION SCHEDULE:
Rehearsals: 7-10pm; Sundays through Thursdays, from September 8th to October 3rd.
Tech: 3-10pm on Sunday (10/06) through Wednesday (10/16) from 6-11pm
Shows: Thursday Invited Dress Rehearsal (10/17) through Saturday (10/19) @ 7:30 PM; Saturday (10/26)@ 7:30 PM and Sunday (10/27) @ 2:00 PM. (A brief talkback will follow every performance.)
*A reception for actors, crew, company, and audience will occur on either opening night or closing day of the show.
