Freedom Isn’t Finished: Black Midwest Voices Project
Freedom Isn’t Finished is a staged reading festival celebrating bold new plays by Black Midwest playwrights. Rooted in Face Off Theatre Company’s Living Stage philosophy, the project invites audiences into the creative process—because the work isn’t complete until the community encounters it.
Featuring six powerful short plays, the festival explores identity, resistance, accountability, mental health, and the unfinished work of liberation. Together, these stories honor Black authorship, shared ownership, and the belief that our communities are not just the subjects of stories—but their creators and future-makers.
